Third Grade Classroom Procedures
In order to attain organization, learning and respect for all, the following procedures will be observed:
MORNING ENTRANCE:
In order to ensure that students have sufficient time to manage morning responsibilities, students need to arrive to class as close to 7:40 as possible. The students need to enter the classroom quietly, unpack and prepare supplies for the day (e.g. sharpening pencils, organizing materials). Students then need to begin morning work, study for any tests or quizzes and if all that is complete the students are to read quietly at their desk. After morning announcements, prayer and pledge, students will head to their first class.
HOMEWORK:
All students will bring home assigned homework books and corresponding folders. Worksheets given as homework are to be kept in subject folder and once completed at home brought back to school in same subject folder. Incomplete assignments are placed in the left (front) pocket and completed assignments are placed in the right (back) pocket. Homework is to remain in folder, until collected by teacher. Please CHECK over the homework to ensure that homework has been completed. Late work (not including absent work) is accepted however five points will be deducted every day that the assignment is late.
ABSENCE:
It is in the best interest of the students to be present at school everyday. Please plan family trips, outings and vacations accordingly. If a student is sick then the absence is understood and encouraged to avoid the rapid spread of germs and sickness. When a student returns, they will need to check the make-up work folder, then will have three (3) school days to complete any work AND get it to the appropriate teacher. I will remind, but not hunt the child down for absent work.
FUN FOLDERS:
Fun folders will be sent home on Wednesdays with graded student work. Please look over the papers with your child to help reinforce the material, keep the graded papers at home, sign, date the folder and send the folder back to school the following day.
COMMUNICATION:
A strong line of communication between parents and teachers is the best way to meet the needs of the children. Any questions or concerns that you may have I would love to answer. The best way to contact me is via email. I will then either email you back or give you a call at my most immediate convenience. Please do not just drop in, because I will not be able to give you the attention and focus you desire.
SNACKS:
Students will have a ten minute morning snack recess. Snacks in the morning are encouraged but limited to nutritious, non-sloppy choices. Apples, grapes, pears, raisins, 100% juice packs, pretzels, crackers are some great choices.
